WILD RIVERS

nothing artificial added

Two of the West’s premier whitewater rivers, the Yampa and the Green, flow through the awe-inspiring canyons of Moffat County. One hundred miles of riverfront and 200,000 acres of river canyon are protected and remain totally unspoiled where they flow through Dinosaur National Monument.

The Green River looks much the same as it did when John Wesley Powell passed through on his historic 1869 expedition.  The Green River winds its way through 60 miles of the monument, journeying through the famed Canyon of Lodore and countless other scenic points of interest. The Yampa River, originating in the Colorado Rockies, is one of America’s last free-flowing rivers. This wild and scenic river supports rare plants and four endangered fish species. River outfitters take thousands of guests on single- and multi-day raft trips that range from mild floats to world-class whitewater adventures.
